Eva de Klerk tells the story behind the renovation of the NDSM Shipyard in Amsterdam. She explain how the “unprofessional” end-users do actually understand better their own purposes and needs than the complex agglomeration of financial companies, real-state developers and planners.
She tells some amazing details about her own engagement, how she raised the necessary founds to turn their project into a reality, how she won competitions to turn the hall into a city, how she dealed with local and national authorities, and finally how the people who moved in managed to plan, with the help of architects and urban planners, their city.
